Catalyst of Control Questions

What has been the biggest or most valuable thing you learned writing Catalyst of Controls?

If you can change one story element from the book that would change it completely, what would it be and how?

What's the most distinct characteristic of your characters' personality and why do you think lead them to be that way?

The most valuable thing I’ve learned from writing the book… Maybe patience? Four years is a long time to spend on one project (at least for me), so it’s been unlike anything else I’ve written in that respect.

If I could change one story element that would change things up completely (just for fun), it would be how it ends. No spoilers, but a different ending would have a massive ripple effect on the rest of the series.

The most distinct characteristic of my characters' personalities... for Kyrus, his distrust and desire for control over his life, which is rooted in his past, when he felt a total lack of control. Sparrow's is her brutal honesty, which comes from years of working as a scientist in a field where such transparency is required. Nari's is her carefree (and sometimes naive) approach to life, having grown up in wealth and security as the granddaughter of a powerful CEO. Javier's is his thoughtful, deliberate nature, which likely comes from years spent in solitude—whether in the lab or out in the real world. Zora's is her burning passion for justice and freedom from tyranny, ignited as a young child living through a war that tore her country apart.

Thanks for your questions!
