Catalyst of Control Questions

What has been the biggest or most valuable thing you learned writing Catalyst of Controls?

If you can change one story element from the book that would change it completely, what would it be and how?

What's the most distinct characteristic of your characters' personality and why do you think lead them to be that way?

In the Foresters' Lodge, there's a playlist that proves that Grayson Taylor has a good taste in music.

I recognized the TVA Theme from Loki Season 1 in there, so, if you have Spotify, you might want to check out the playlist.

My Catalyst of Control Questions

If, during the events of Catalyst of Control, your main characters sensed that you were writing a book about them in a different universe from their own, how would that affect the events of Catalyst of Control?

Which three genres of music do you think your main characters would most enjoy?

What kind of books would your main characters be most likely to write if given the opportunity?

Grayson Taylor

Thought-provoking questions! If the main characters of Catalyst of Control had a meta-awareness of the book's existence, that would have some deep philosophical implications. Free will is a central idea in the book, so the idea of an author 'controlling' them would challenge several characters' views on how free they really are. It might drive some characters down a dark path, or accelerate their descent. Mind control might seem like less of a moral affront if free will seems to be a mere illusion. Kyrus's favorite genre of music is new classical—he's a pianist and often plays music when he needs space to process or detach from something. Sparrow's favorite genre is indie music, specifically from India. Zora's favorite genre is classic British rock (like the Beatles), as it reminds her of a time before war ravaged her country. She also has an appreciation for opera. Kyrus would probably write a fictional book, something escapist. Fantasy, maybe. Javier would definitely write a book on philosophy—in fact, he probably already has. Sparrow would write an accessible book sharing the mysteries and wonders of quantum physics, a layman's guide to the field. I realize that these are just names, since I haven't introduced the cast of characters yet—but I'll share more about them soon. Thanks for the questions!

I'm hard at work writing Catalyst of Control, and I can't wait to share it with you all! In the meantime, I thought I'd do a Foresters-only Q&A about the book.

Ask me anything in the comments, and I'll give you an answer—as long as it's not a spoiler 😉

Did you ever feel like giving up during the writing process? If so, how did you continue?

Hello! Anyone else excited about Catalyst of Control? I know I am.

Also, I think it might be fun to casually do some marketing for it, in addition to the marketing that Grayson Taylor does. Y'know, like selfies while holding the book. I wonder if we can increase his book sales at least slightly beyond his expectations.

That sounds like a great idea! 😁
